01 Why We Reviewed Ooni
Ooni started in 2012 as a crowdfunded idea from Kristian Tapaninaho and Darina Garland in Scotland: an affordable, portable oven that could reach the temperatures real pizzerias use. It created the home pizza oven category and still leads it. Today's range covers three fuel families. Koda is gas-powered, Karu is multi-fuel (wood, charcoal or gas with an adapter), and Volt is an indoor electric oven. Most models reach about 950°F, which cooks a Neapolitan pizza in 60 to 90 seconds. A normal kitchen oven tops out at around 500°F.
The honest caveat is that the naming is confusing. Some numbers mean generation (Koda 2) and some mean deck size (Koda 16), so buyers regularly pick the wrong oven. There's also a learning curve: open-front ovens have a hot back wall, so you have to rotate the pizza every 15–20 seconds or it burns. Some buyers report shipping damage or cracked stones, and the main service complaint is that support is message-based, not phone. Ooni is known for replacing parts quickly, though, often with next-day shipping.

03 What FailleGlam Found: The Honest Breakdown
-
+01
✅ Real pizzeria temperatures. About 950°F on most models means leopard-spotted crusts in 60–90 seconds, which a home oven can't do.
-
+02
✅ A model for every cook. Gas for convenience, wood or charcoal for flavour, electric for indoors, from 12" to 20"-usable decks.
-
+03
✅ Fast warranty replacements. Owners describe replacement pizza stones and parts arriving the next day at no charge.
-
+04
✅ Huge accessory range. Peels, turning peels, covers, thermometers, cast-iron pans and dough tools all fit together.
-
+05
✅ Very high owner satisfaction. 4.8 / 5 on Trustpilot from over 9,200 reviews, with 88% five-star.
-
−01
❌ Confusing model names. Koda 2 is a 14" oven but the Koda 16 is a 16" oven and costs slightly less. Many buyers overpay for the wrong model.
-
−02
❌ There's a learning curve. Expect a few burnt pizzas. The back of the oven runs much hotter, so you have to turn the pizza often.
-
−03
❌ No phone support. One reviewer described sending a message and waiting three days for a reply.
-
−04
❌ Some shipping damage. A minority of buyers report dented ovens or parts breaking early, though most say replacements came quickly.
Our readOoni's product and support are excellent. The main risk is buying the wrong model, and this review is here to help you avoid that.
04 Best Ooni Products Worth Considering
We compared deck size, fuel type, price and long-term owner feedback across the 2026 range.
Ooni
Ooni Koda 16
A 16" deck, propane, an L-shaped burner for more even heat, and it costs slightly less than the 14" Koda 2. It's the best choice for most families: big enough for full-size pizzas and flatbreads, easy to run with gas, and much easier to turn pizzas in than a 12" oven. It's the one most people should buy.
Ooni
Ooni Koda 12
Compact, light and simple: connect a propane tank and you're cooking in about 15 minutes. The 12" deck is tight for beginners who are still learning to launch pizzas, but it's the cheapest way into gas-fired pizza.
Ooni
Ooni Karu 2 Pro
A 16" multi-fuel oven with a glass door and built-in thermometer. It burns wood or charcoal for real smoky flavour, and it can switch to gas with an adapter. It's for hobbyists who want wood-fired flavour without giving up convenience.
Ooni
Ooni Volt 2
The indoor electric option is useful if you have no outdoor space. It maxes out at about 850°F rather than 950°F, so it's a bit slower and less charred, and it costs more than the gas ovens. Buy it only if cooking outdoors isn't possible.
05 What Buyers Are Actually Saying
An owner on warranty support:
Within 24 hours, I got a FedEx shipping that my replacement pizza stone would arrive the following day — at no charge!
Owners regularly say the results are like restaurant pizza:
Excellent results for authentic pizza making.
On the concerns side, a buyer on support access:
Only way to get support is send a message and wait 3 days. Not acceptable to not be able to call.
And a shopper on price:
Why should I purchase directly when competitors offer significantly lower prices?
The pattern: almost nine in ten owners give five stars for pizza quality and support, while complaints focus on message-only support, occasional shipping damage and pricing.

07 Is Ooni Right For You?
Perfect For
Home cooks who want real Neapolitan or New York-style pizza, families hosting backyard pizza nights, and hobbyists who want to experiment with dough, wood and cast-iron cooking.
Worth Considering If
You've never made pizza dough. Start with a gas Koda (easier than wood), use store-bought dough at first, and practise with the turning peel.
Skip It If
You'll only make pizza a few times a year (a pizza steel in your oven is cheaper), you have no outdoor space and don't want to pay for the Volt, or you need phone support.
08 FailleGlam Recommends
Ooni
Ooni Koda 16
The best balance of size, ease and price in the range, and cheaper than the smaller Koda 2. Add a turning peel and a cover, register the oven for the extended warranty, and inspect the box and stone on delivery so any shipping damage is logged straight away.
