J Brooke

J Brooke is a US-based writer, poet and editor whose work explores storytelling, identity, family, culture and the deeply personal experiences that shape us. They hold an MFA in Creative Writing from the University of Southern Maine and have built a body of work spanning poetry, creative nonfiction, essays and literary criticism.

Their writing has appeared in publications including Electric Literature, Harvard Review, The Sun, The Maine Review, The Fiddlehead and The Rumpus. Their autobiographical essay “HYBRID” received the 2020 Columbia Journal Nonfiction Award, and their work has received Pushcart and Best of the Net nominations. They serve as Prose Book Reviews Editor at The Rumpus and as a Poetry Editor at Trans Poetics Archive. Their debut poetry collection, I Can Tell You The Version That Will Make You Take My Side, was published by Driftwood Press in 2026 and received the Editor’s Choice Prize.
